The Power of Small Shifts How a Simple Daily Schedule Transformed My Journey of Surrender

Inspired by the book; The Art of Surrender by Eiman Al Zaabi

Okay, so, you are not going to believe this—I actually started a real daily schedule last week.

I know, I know, but stick with me here. Turns out, this whole “tiny shifts add up to big changes” thing isn’t just some Pinterest quote. It’s real life, and I am already feeling the difference.

I wasn’t exactly stuck, but my intuition was throwing major hints that something needed to change. And there was an urgency that can only be described as “the planets are in the perfect alignment for you to step into your new timeline. Tonight. So chop chop, it’s time.” 

It started with getting a gym membership, new kicks, and a daily schedule. I was listening to the book The Art of Surrender and heard this exercise;

Ask Your Resistance What It Wants to Tell You 

So, I did.

And do you know what my resistance said? “If you want me to trust you, you’ve gotta get on a schedule.” Which, I had literally JUST started.

Not just a “wake up whenever”, but an actual routine. I’ve tried this like 10 times, but,I swear, even my resistance sounded exasperated.

I’ve been avoiding routines like the plague ever since I left corporateville. 

The whole point was freedom, right? 

But here’s the kicker the one thing I’ve been running from is exactly what I needed to master. 

Of course, the universe does have a sense of humor.

I bought children's games to draw and a game of Jax to remind myself, the little bouncy ball and metal things from our childhood.

I should mention that at the same time, I got the feeling I needed a cleanse from all things  True Crime and Court, and let’s just say, it was my crack. 

I was straight-up moody for the first two days. 

I was trying too hard to control everything.

The universe sent such a clear message “Girl, stop controlling everything. And let Jesus Take the Wheel” 

So, I decided to chill, embrace surrender, and finally put together a schedule that felt right and manageable.

The Small Changes I Made Last Week

I’m not kidding when I say these changes were small, but they’ve already made a big impact. 

Here’s what I did

1. Morning Intentions 

I decided to start my day with a quick 5-minute ritual—just me, my coffee, and one simple intention. I’d say things like, “I am exactly where I need to be,” and let it be awkwardly powerful.

2. Visualization 

After setting my intention, I would spend a few minutes visualizing how I wanted to feel. I focused more on the feeling than the details. 

It wasn’t perfect, but it was real, and I could literally feel some of my resistance start to crack.

3. Daily Walks

I got outside for a quick 10-minute walk. Nothing fancy, but it felt like a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. 

I’d say to myself, “I trust the universe’s plan for me,” and actually start believing it.

4. Synchronicity Journal

I started writing down any meaningful coincidences, unexpected blessings, or tiny wins. 

It felt ridiculous at first, but it made me realize the universe really is playing along. But, the more I noticed, the more it showed up.

5. Evening Reflection

Instead of my usual pre-bed phone scroll, I swapped in a quick reflection. 

I’d write down one thing I was grateful for and one moment that felt like a shift. It made everything feel a little more magical.

Small Steps, Big Changes

It sounds almost too simple. 

But seriously, these tiny shifts didn’t require some massive overhaul. 

When you show up for yourself, the universe shows up for you. 

It felt big at the time, but looking back, it started feeling really normal. 

It made things feel lighter, more aligned, and less forced. 

The universe is already responding, and I feel like I’m actually in the flow instead of forcing it.

So, if you feel like things are not moving as you want them to, try making some small changes.

I’m telling you, it doesn’t take much to turn things around.
